University of the Third Age Ends 30th Anniversary Celebration with Special Luncheon
Great food and excellent company were the components of this University of the Third Age Summer Session Luncheon. The celebration took place in the patio of one of the most beautiful buildings on campus: Degheri Alumni Center. The tables were set-up around the fountain and beautiful umbrellas décor the patio. Our award winning catering department was in charge of the exquisite plates served that afternoon.

After enjoying a delightful dessert our special guests shared some words about the University of the Third Age. Starting with Dr. Author Hughes, USD President Emeritus, who spoke about the beginnings of this wonderful program followed by Dr. Mary Lyons, USD President and Dr. Darlene Shiley, Chair Board of Trustees, who focused on the present and future of it. The past and present master heads of the program Mal Rafferty, Director of USD's Continuing Education Department and Jodi Waterhouse, Manager of USD's Office of Corporate and Professional Education, also shared some anecdotes and laughs; while Mr. Alex Perry, President of USD's Alumni Association explained the importance of having this type of programs.
Last but definitely not least we heard from two of our dearest U3A participants, U3A Ambassadors Marta Brown and Bob Kilian talk about their personal experience with the program. They also expressed they gratefulness toward the Office of Corporate and Professional Education, especially to Jodi Waterhouse, Pamela Cappiello and Diego Cappiello for making the University of the Third Age a big success this summer session. Jodi, Pamela and Diego committed to repeat this success for the next session, which will be held in January 2009.
